I enjoyed it immensely.
When Night Falls is an intriguing and unexpected local film that richly deserves your support.
- Graeme Tuckett, Radio New Zealand and Dominion Post
Looks and sounds amazing...At least a million bucks!
- Simon Morris, "Arts on Sunday" Radio New Zealand
This feature-film debut from Christchurch-born writer-director Alex Galvin is an atmospheric and alluring chiller. Production values are particularly impressive with clean editing, slick camerawork and some clever uses of angles, mirrors, lighting and frame depth to heighten the slow burning tension...Good use is also made of the single setting (made up of shots from eight different historic locations) with Galvin maximising the thrills out of every nook and cranny.
- James Croot, The Christchurch Press
It is stylishly filmed and directed...
...an engrossing and enjoyable old style thriller and represents a very fine first effort in feature filmmaking from Galvin, and is well worth a viewing.
